La Maddalena is a town and commune situated on the island of the same name, in the north of Sardinia, part of the province of Olbia-Tempio, Italy. La Maddalena is the largest town in the Maddalena archipelago, just off the northeastern coast of Sardinia and nestled in the Straits of Bonifacio, between it and Corsica. The island of Maddalena is famous for its beaches; it's marked by rocky granitic terrain and has some ancient fortifications. Spalmatore and Bassa Trinita are two popular beaches. It's linked by causeway with the nearby island of Caprera.
